Apple Certified Trainer Program
The Apple Certified Trainer (ACT) program certifies industry professionals to deliver the Apple curriculum. Subjects range from Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server administration to Apple's Pro Applications, including Aperture, Color, DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Server, Logic Pro, Motion, and Soundtrack Pro. The goal of the ACT program is to ensure quality, consistency and accessibility of Apple training worldwide.
Program Overview
The ACT program prepares and qualifies individuals to deliver courses for Apple Authorized Training Centers. ACTs maintain a high standard of instructional preparedness through continued access to Apple's technical resources. Candidates are qualified in technical proficiency and instructional skills by attending a Train-the-Trainer (T3) class.
Apple classes combine lecture, demonstration, and hands-on exercises, and utilize courseware developed by Apple experts or third-party industry experts. For more information on Apple courses, visit our courses page.
Apple offers two ACT tracks
- The Pro Apps ACT track prepares individuals to teach Apple's Pro Applications curriculum at Apple Authorized Training Centers (AATCs).
- The IT ACT track prepares individuals to teach Apple's Mac OS X curriculum at AATCs.

Pro Apps ACT Program
The Pro Apps ACT program prepares individuals to teach Apple's Pro Applications curriculum at AATCs. To become a Pro Apps ACT, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Submit an Apple Certified Trainer application
- Have a minimum of one year teaching experience in a structured classroom setting
- Have a minimum one year of experience with the specific Pro Application
- Have a minimum three years of experience as an editor, photographer, effects artist, DVD author or sound designer, or teaching experience in these fields.
- Have achieved Level One Apple Certified Pro end user certification in the relevant product
- Demonstrate the ability to teach technical courses at a Train-the-trainer (T3) course and pass the trainer exam for the chosen application
- Some trainer certifications may be earned online, after first attending and passing a prerequisite T3
Trainer certifications are available for all individual Pro Applications, and you can take it a step further and earn Master Trainer Certification in Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio.
IT ACT Requirements
The IT ACT track prepares individuals to teach Apple's Mac OS X curriculum at AATCs. To become an IT ACT, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Submit an Apple Certified Trainer application
- Have two years experience teaching or training in a structured classroom setting.
- Have an AATC Sponsor
- Have a minimum of one year of experience with Mac OS X
- Have passed the relevant exams at the Trainer Cut Scores
- Meet all prerequisites for the course
Certification
Upon completion of the above requirements, trainers will receive detailed instructions for accessing the tools and information available to ACTs.
AATC Sponsor
In order to deliver Apple training courses, you must be associated with an AATC, so before you invest in your career as a trainer, it's important to build relationships with AATCs. You do not have to be an employee of the AATC to list them as a sponsor; the AATC only needs to indicate an interest in working with you once you obtain your ACT certification.
